A Thousand Years of Christmas. Start the countdown to Christmas in the right spirit by watching a show that distils a unique, captivating Christmas atmosphere. Christmas is given an in-depth treatment. The artists look at its moods from all sides, from medieval mysticism to a hangover. The programme draws on a wide variety of readings and music, including Byzantine hymns. Presented by John Julius Norwich with soprano Sally Bradshaw accompanied by pianist Michael Haslam.
