Tauris-City: Crossbred Dialogues Across the Black Sea, on the shore of Tauris, a land prone to violent sacrifices, two Greeks arrive, looking for redemption on their way back to Athens. Tangled in Plato’s dialogical webs, two actors construct traps and keepnets. A presentation/exploration of the realms of ancient dramatic dialogue by Maria Gaitanidi and Stéphane Poliakov followed by a discussion with the participants. Free entry. “Trojan Women” Performed in Post-War Greece: Approaches to Stage Presentation and Scenography An illustrated lecture in English by Dr Maria Konomis focusing on diverse currents, trends and approaches underlining stage representations -and presentations- of this popular Euripidean tragedy. Since its belated Epidaurus premiere during the mid sixties, the play has been performed around forty times in Greece. Special emphasis will be given on issues such as local cultural politics, shifts in visual aesthetics and a comparative analysis of international and Greek approaches to staging tragedy.
