Smyrna meatballs in sauce
  (Soutzoukakia Smyrneika me Saltsa)
  • 1lb minced beef
  • 1-2 tsp cumin
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • salt & pepper
  • olive oil for frying

  1. Knead the minced beef and cumin and shape into small sausage rolls.
  2. Grill under a medium heat until cooked.
  3. Heat oil in a saucepan and fry the garlic for 2 minutes.
  4. Add tomato puree and salt & pepper and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Add the meatballs to the sauce and continue to simmer for a few more minutes and serve.
