Film Night - Cavafy (Kavafis, 1996) by Yannis Smaragdis of El Greco fame in an unusual film of episodes of the poet's life.  Variously described as a "masterpiece waiting to become a classic" "breathtaking cinematography".  The music score by Vangelis (of Chariots of Fire fame) won an international award. Dimitris Kontiflos stars as young Cavafy, Maya Liberopoulou, as his mother; Vassillis Diamantopolous as old Cavafy.  Subtitled - 76 minutes.  Introduction by an academic.  Organised by the London Hellenic Society.
